
I’m truly not anti-supplement. I do recommend supplements when there is a clear rationale and a likely benefit for the individual in front of me.
What does matter to me is what type of supplement we’re talking about and how it is produced, because not all supplements carry the same purpose, evidence base, or level of risk. In my practice, I broadly think about supplements in three categories:
- Vitamins and minerals
- Ergogenic aids (performance supplements)
- Herbal products
Each category deserves a slightly different level of scrutiny, and that framework shapes the recommendations I make.
