Hello Thrive Family,
My dietetic internship officially begins TOMORROW……
Which means that effective immediately, I will no longer be taking on 1:1 coaching clients. If you are a current client, we will be continuing coaching, of course.
Why Am I Putting Things On Pause?
I’m doing this for a few reasons:
- I need to focus 100% on what I am doing. I will be learning a lot and will be exposed to many different areas of nutrition including food service, community (hopefully sports nutrition), long-term care, WIC and clinical (my longest rotation).
- The internship will help shape what my future career looks like. It’s like a long interview. I will be making new connections, meeting new people and learning from people already in the field. I need to be able to show up at my best every day.
- I can’t show up at 100% as your coach when I need to be 100% elsewhere. I don’t want this to affect the quality of my 1:1 coaching. Inevitably, it will. I care deeply about the quality I provide to my clients and do not want to compromise the experience.
What Happens When I’m Done?
The internship will end next summer. After it ends, I will be studying for my RD exam which is what all of this preparation is ultimately for. It is a board exam that allows me to practice as a registered dietitian nutritionist in the state of NC and other states if I choose to pursue additional licensure. Once I pass this, I will be able to:
- Treat medical conditions
- Order labs and tests
- Interpret labs and tests from a nutrition perspective
- Create prescriptive meal plans and hydration protocols
- Take insurance
This is a HUGE step to getting to where I have been working so hard to be. It will positively effect the experience for my future and current clients. I will be able to do MORE.
See You On the Other Side!
I can’t wait to get through this and start my career! Thank you so much for all of the support that you have given me through the years while I’ve been going through this process. We are almost there!
