I think one of my favorite aspects of studying nutrition + having two major food allergies is being creative in the ways that I substitute certain foods. With that also brings to my attention some pretty rad products on the market and restaurants to try. I find a lot of these up-and-coming products on Instagram.
Anytime I prepare a meal, I constantly remind myself – #eatyogreens. Yes, I even think about the hashtag {LOL}. In reality, most people don’t eat their greens. In fact….the majority of people tend to avoid them all together. I won’t deny that they can appear very unattractive next to a big ‘ol pepperoni pizza, but the truth is, we NEED greens.
Kuli Kuli
Kuli Kuli was kind enough to send me some samples of their Organic Pure Moringa Vegetable Powder.
What is Moringa?
Moringa was uncovered by Lisa Curtis {the company’s founder} in Niger while working with the Peace Corps as a volunteer. It’s a tree that was found in the backyard of the people in Niger! More like a hidden treasure….Here’s why:
- It contains all 9 essential amino acids
- Essential=Amino acids that the body cannot produce
- Iron
- Calcium
- Antioxidants
As a nutrition student, I believe that Moringa is a goldmine, especially for vegans and vegetarians. Furthermore, it is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and nut-free. The nutrients that it provides gives the body what it needs to function properly on a cellular level. Most of these nutrients are hard to come by for vegans and vegetarians.

You could compare it to kale, however it contains more protein, iron, calcium and fiber than kale.
How Do I use it?
Kuli Kuli offers their moringa in a few different forms. The powder I received is just ground moringa in a green powder. You can add it to smoothies, top your salad with it or drink it with water {which is what I did}. In water, it tasted like green tea!
They offer protein smoothie mixes, on-the-go bars containing Moringa and energy shots!

The Kuli Kuli Mission
I have to say that I am a fan. They have a wonderful mission that drives them as a company. It falls right in line with my goals. Kuli Kuli has a goal to provide solid nutrition to EVERYONE worldwide. Greens are not something that people easily incorporate into their diet. I think this product solves that problem! It makes these important nutrients readily available and easy to add into any meal!
I encourage you to visit their website to see the impact that Kuli Kuli has made in communities around the world. This includes supporting the farming community AND working towards ending malnutrition. Did I mention that many of the farming cooperatives are women-led and family owned?
Here is the link to their Impact section of their website to learn more.
Thank you again to Kuli Kuli for so graciously letting me try your product. I got so much more out of it other than a free sample.
If you are vegan, vegetarian or struggle with food allergies…I recommend that you give Kuli Kuli a try. You will be doing more than just giving them a sale – you will be making an IMPACT.

-Your Food Allergy Guide x
Just wanted to say thank you for this article! Been trying to find everywhere whether Moringa seeds are dangerous to people with nut allergies. I’ve been struggling to find a lipstick brand that is safe for me to use and came across Burt’s Bees which looked promising, but the only ingredient I was unsure about was their use of Moringa seeds. Thank you! (I’ll swatch test on my wrist first just in case).
No problem at all! I’m glad I could help 🙂
